HYGO and MagrowTec Partner for More Precise and Better-Informed Spraying

MagrowTec is delighted to announce a new partnership with Alvie, developer of the HYGO agronomic assistant.

The integration of MagrowTec technology into the HYGO app enables spray recommendations to be tailored to the performance of the equipment being used, helping identify optimal spraying windows and refine dose recommendations.

Farmers using a MagrowTec system can now register their equipment in HYGO, allowing the app to incorporate MagrowTec’s spray performance characteristics into its calculations and deliver more tailored recommendations.

The objective is simple: to connect decision support with the actual performance of the sprayer.

WHEN EQUIPMENT BECOMES PART OF THE CALCULATION

To determine optimal application conditions, HYGO already takes numerous parameters into account: the product being used, crop, weather conditions, humidity, farm characteristics and spraying equipment.

With the integration of MagrowTec, HYGO can now take into account the system’s specific performance in terms of drift control and improved spray coverage.

In practical terms, when a farmer indicates in HYGO that their sprayer is equipped with MagrowTec, these parameters are incorporated into the application’s calculations.

Depending on the product, crop and application conditions, HYGO can:

  • Identify more favourable spraying windows, taking improved drift control into account;

  • Refine its dose modulation recommendations, incorporating the coverage performance associated with MagrowTec;

  • Provide recommendations that are better adapted to the product, conditions and equipment actually being used by the farmer.

Each application is then automatically recorded in HYGO, together with the conditions under which it was carried out: a modulated dose remains a documented dose.

CONNECTING THE DECISION TO FIELD APPLICATION

This partnership responds to an important development in precision agriculture.

Digital tools now enable farmers to make better decisions about when to apply. Spray technologies, meanwhile, can improve how the product is applied. A third requirement is becoming increasingly important for both farms and cooperatives: being able to document what was done and under what conditions.

By connecting these three dimensions, HYGO and MagrowTec aim to go one step further: taking the actual capabilities of the equipment into account in agronomic recommendations.

For MagrowTec, this integration also provides a new way to bring the performance of its technology directly into the farmer’s decision-making process.

β€œA spray recommendation becomes even more relevant when it takes into account not only the product and weather conditions, but also the equipment that will actually carry out the application. With HYGO, we are bringing the performance of a MagrowTec-equipped sprayer into the agronomic decision.”

MORE PRECISE AND BETTER-INFORMED SPRAYING

The integration does not mean that a dose reduction or an expansion of spraying windows will be systematically recommended.

Recommendations for spraying windows and dose modulation continue to be calculated by HYGO according to the product being used, the crop, application conditions, equipment and the various agronomic parameters taken into account by the application.

This approach is essential: the objective is to enable more considered modulation when conditions and equipment allow.

It forms part of a broader approach to improving spray quality: better drift control, improving target coverage and using this performance to help farmers make more precise decisions.

HYGO directly addresses this requirement: the application automatically records completed spraying operations and checks their regulatory compliance β€” authorised dose, application conditions and mandatory information.

The required records are therefore generated without the need for re-entry, ahead of the mandatory transition to the digital plant protection product register, scheduled for 1 January 2027 for all professional users in the European Union.

TWO COMPLEMENTARY TECHNOLOGIES SERVING FARMERS

HYGO helps farmers identify the best application windows and optimise their crop protection treatments, while also supporting traceability and regulatory compliance.

MagrowTec acts directly on spray quality through its liquid conditioning technology, designed to improve on target coverage and reduce drift.

The partnership therefore creates continuity between the decision made within the application and its implementation in the field:

HYGO helps determine when and how to apply. MagrowTec improves application performance.

INTEGRATION NOW AVAILABLE IN HYGO

MagrowTec users can now select their equipment in HYGO, enabling the app to factor it into its recommendations.

This launch marks the first stage in the collaboration between Alvie and MagrowTec, with a shared ambition: to put technology at the service of spraying that is more precise, better-informed and better adapted to real-world field conditions.

β€œA farmer doesn’t just choose when to apply a treatment: they need to apply as effectively as possible and be able to document it. With MagrowTec, we are bringing the actual performance of the sprayer into the recommendation. And because HYGO records applications and checks their compliance, a more refined decision remains one that the farmer can justify.”

About HYGO / Alvie

HYGO, developed by Alvie, is an agronomic assistant dedicated to optimising spraying.

The application helps farmers select application windows and make considered adjustments to their applications, taking numerous agronomic, meteorological and technical parameters into account. It also provides automatic traceability of spraying operations, generates regulatory records β€” including the digital plant protection product register β€” and verifies the compliance of applications.

About MagrowTec

MagrowTec develops spraying technologies designed to help farmers improve the quality and efficiency of their applications. Its technology acts on the physical properties of the spray liquid to improve droplet adhesion to the target, increase coverage and reduce drift.

MagrowTec technology has been the subject of more than 110 field studies and is currently installed on more than 400 sprayers worldwide.
